The Registrar of Corporations has issued notice that, effective October 1, 2026, The Libel and Slander Act is repealed, and the register of newspapers is decommissioned. As a result, newspaper publishers will no longer be required to file documents with the Registrar of Corporations and the search function for the register of newspapers will no longer be available.
The Libel and Slander Act is replaced by The Defamation Act, effective October 1, 2026.
