Correction of Entity Name

Correction of Entity Name

Correction of Entity’s Name

When an error is discovered in an Entity’s name:

Step 1: Determine that the Entity is the correct entity and not another entity with a similar name.

Step 2: Determine if the error in the entity name is on a title as a registered owner or an interest holder.

Step 3: Determine if the error was caused by an ISC data entry error or by a customer error on the documents submitted to the Land Registry.

NOTE: There is a different process to correct the error depending on whether it was caused by the customer, or the Land Registry.

Error in Entity’s Name as Registered Owner on Title

In the current online Land Registry system an entity must be registered with the Corporate Registry in order to have a title transferred to it. On the application the entity must provide the ISC COBRA linked client number. This number is created from a download of information from the Corporate Registry to the Land registry.

The Entity name is the name registered with the Corporate Registry and the address for the Entity is the address registered with the Corporate Registry. If the entity name appears incorrectly or incompletely on a title print, the name needs to be corrected with the Corporate Registry. Once it is corrected at the Corporate Registry the download will correct it in the Land Registry.

In the old Paper-based Land Title system it was possible for an entity’s name to be incorrect or incomplete on title as a registered owner.

  • If it is determined the error resulted from a data entry error that occurred on title from the old world Land Titles contact ISC's Customer Support Team. They will obtain the particulars of the error from you and have someone look into the issue and contact you.
  • If it is determined that the error resulted from the customer (or the person submitting a packet on behalf of the customer) submitting documents to the Land Registry with the entity’s name spelled incorrectly or incompletely, contact ISC's Customer Support Team. They will obtain the particulars and have someone research the issue and advise you of the process to rectify the error.

ISC Data Entry Error in Entity’s Name as Interest Holder on Title

If the error in an entity’s name is caused by a data entry error on the Registry's part, the customer cannot submit a Corporate Entity Name Correction form to make the name conform to the entity’s legal name.

If a customer discovers an error in the spelling of an entity’s name as displayed on a title print as an interest holder the process to get it corrected is to contact ISC's Customer Support Team. They will obtain the particulars of the error and forward the information to someone to research and correct the error. You will be notified when the error has been corrected.

Customer Error in Entity’s Name as Interest Holder on Title

If it is determined that the error resulted from the customer (or the person submitting a packet on behalf of the customer) submitting documents for the registration of or dealing with an interest to the Land Registry with the entity’s name spelled incorrectly or incompletely the following process will correct the error.

Submit a Corporate Entity Name Correction form and if applicable a Corporate Entity Client Number Amalgamation form to ISC for processing. These forms and Help instructions can be found here.

In order to process the request the following information is required:
  • Entity’s client number
  • The packet # that was submitted to the Land Registry and the incorrect or incomplete spelling of the entity name on the documents
    or
The instrument # if the documents were submitted under the old land system
  • Statement that the incorrect name never existed as a registered entity or business name in Saskatchewan
  • The correct legal name that should appear on the Interest Registration
  • Statement that the correct entity name is currently registered with the Corporate Registry
