What is Personal Information?

Personal information is information that describes an identifiable individual, and includes name, home telephone number, home address, social insurance number, education, criminal and employment history, and tax and financial information. Information describing an individual’s race, creed, religion, colour, gender, sexual orientation, family or marital status, age, disability, nationality, ancestry or place of origin is also considered personal information.

The Customer Privacy Policy imports the definition of “personal information” from Section 2(1) of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act which reads as follows:

“personal information” means information about an identifiable individual, but does not include the name, title or business address or telephone number of an employee of an organization
