SPPR stands for the Saskatchewan Personal Property Registry.

The Saskatchewan Personal Property Registry offers two main services:

1. The ability to search for registrations against goods.
2. The ability to register your interest against goods

 

Who uses SPPR?

 

• Individuals and businesses that want to purchase goods.
• Individuals and businesses that are lending money on the security of goods.

Why use SPPR?

• For peace of mind.
• For protecting your interests.

If you are involved in buying goods privately, it is an excellent idea for you to perform a search to see if there are any liens registered against the goods. If you don’t and there happens to be a lien registered against the goods, the goods may be seized from you to pay the previous owner's debt.

Let's take a closer look at each of these services:

• Search. A search will show you if any liens are registered against the owner or goods you are planning to purchase. You can search using a person's name, a business name, a serial number or a registration number. Now, with our Web-based SPPR application, individuals and organizations can quickly and easily perform their own searches. And, ISC still offers staff-assisted search services however, it’s important to remember that a staff-assisted fee is applied to all staff-assisted services.
• Registration. A registration against goods is made through SPPR to ensure that your interest in those goods is protected. Registering your interests enables others to search and find out whether a registration against those goods exists. Before you complete a registration, you will have to apply for registration access privileges, and may want to refer to Explanation of the Different Act Types for some helpful information.
